1. Who Is a Creator
A "Creator" on Community Connect is any user who creates and manages a community, hosts events, broadcasts livestreams, or monetizes content through the platform. By taking on any of these roles, you agree to these Creator Terms in addition to our general Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and all applicable platform policies.
2. Independent Contractor Relationship
Creators are independent contractors, not employees, agents, partners, or joint venturers of Community Connect. Nothing in these Creator Terms creates any employment, agency, franchise, or fiduciary relationship between you and Community Connect.
- You have no authority to bind Community Connect to any obligation or represent that you act on its behalf.
- Community Connect is not responsible for withholding, collecting, or paying any income tax, payroll tax, social security, or other employment-related taxes on your behalf.
- You are not entitled to any employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid leave, or workers' compensation.
- Community Connect does not control the manner or means by which you create content, set prices, or manage your community, except as required by these Terms and platform policies.
3. Creator Responsibilities
Creators are solely responsible for the content, events, livestreams, and communities they operate. This includes:
- Ensuring all content, event listings, and community activity comply with Community Connect's policies, applicable laws, and regulations.
- Accurately representing events, including format (in-person, virtual, hybrid), location, date, time, and pricing. Misleading event listings may result in creator privilege suspension.
- Moderating your community's group chat and ensuring members abide by the platform's conduct standards. Community admins and owners have moderation tools available and are expected to use them.
- Promptly communicating cancellations, postponements, or major changes to registered attendees. Failure to notify attendees may result in mandatory refunds and suspension of event creation privileges.
- Obtaining all necessary permits, licenses, and authorizations for in-person events, including venue permits, music licenses, and any required safety certifications.
- Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of attendees at in-person and hybrid events. Community Connect is not liable for incidents occurring at creator-hosted events.
- Warranting that all content you upload, publish, or distribute does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights, violate any person's privacy or publicity rights, or breach any applicable law or regulation.
4. Monetization
Creators may charge for community subscriptions, event tickets, and other offerings made available through the platform. By enabling monetization, you agree to the following:
- Payment processing: All payments are processed through Stripe. You must create and maintain a valid Stripe account and comply with Stripe's Terms of Service. Community Connect is not responsible for payment processing errors or delays caused by Stripe.
- Payouts: Earned revenue is paid out to your connected Stripe account according to Stripe's payout schedule, minus applicable platform and processing fees. Payouts may be withheld if your account is under review for policy violations or fraud.
- Payout disputes: Any dispute regarding a payout, fee calculation, or transaction amount must be raised in writing to Community Connect within 60 days of the date the transaction appeared (or failed to appear) in your Stripe dashboard. Claims raised after this window are permanently waived and will not be investigated or honored.
- Taxes: You are solely responsible for determining, collecting, reporting, and remitting all applicable taxes on your earnings, including income tax, sales tax, and VAT where applicable. Community Connect does not provide tax advice.
- Legal compliance: You are responsible for ensuring your monetization activities comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction, including consumer protection laws and financial regulations.
- Refunds: You are responsible for honoring refund requests in accordance with Community Connect's Refund Policy and any refund terms you disclose at checkout. Failure to honor valid refund requests may result in suspension.
5. Platform Fees
Community Connect charges platform fees on transactions processed through the platform. These fees are deducted automatically from each transaction before payout and include:
- Community Connect platform fee: 10% of each subscription payment collected on your behalf.
- Stripe payment processing fee: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction, charged by Stripe and passed through at cost.
Fee Disclaimer: For every subscription payment you collect, Community Connect retains 10% as a platform fee, and Stripe deducts 2.9% + $0.30 as a payment processing fee. For example, on a $10.00 subscription, you would receive approximately $8.41 after fees ($10.00 − $1.00 platform fee − $0.29 Stripe % − $0.30 Stripe fixed fee). These fees apply to all recurring and one-time subscription charges.
Fee rates are subject to change with reasonable advance notice. Continued use of monetization features after a fee change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new rates.
6. No Earnings Guarantee
Community Connect makes no representations, warranties, or guarantees of any kind regarding earnings, revenue, audience size, subscription growth, content reach, or algorithmic promotion. Specifically:
- Community Connect does not guarantee that your community will attract any minimum number of subscribers, members, or paying customers.
- Community Connect does not guarantee any minimum level of visibility, discoverability, or algorithmic placement for your content or community.
- Revenue projections, case studies, or examples shown on the platform or in marketing materials are illustrative only and do not represent typical results. Past creator earnings are not indicative of future performance.
- Community Connect reserves the right to adjust discovery algorithms, ranking systems, recommendation features, and promotional placements at any time without notice or liability to creators.
- Any loss of earnings resulting from platform changes, outages, algorithm adjustments, suspension, or termination is entirely at your own risk. Community Connect is not liable for lost revenue under any circumstances.
7. Content Standards
All creator content — including event listings, community descriptions, posts, livestreams, and promotional materials — must comply with Community Connect's Terms of Service, Livestream Safety Policy, and all applicable laws. In addition, creators may not:
- Misrepresent the nature, quality, or details of an event or offering.
- Use Community Connect to promote competing platforms in a way intended to redirect users off-platform.
- Publish or broadcast content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others.
- Collect or solicit personal data from members outside of the platform without their explicit consent.
- Use members' contact information obtained through Community Connect for off-platform marketing without consent.
8. Community Management
As a community creator or admin, you have tools to manage your members, moderate content, and configure your community's settings. With these tools come the following obligations:
- Treat members fairly and without discrimination. You may set and enforce community rules, but those rules must not violate applicable law or Community Connect's policies.
- When removing a member from your community, they will also be removed from the community group chat. Their previously sent messages may remain visible to existing members.
- You may not use your admin access to harvest member data, contact members outside the platform without consent, or engage in any form of member abuse.
- Community Connect retains the right to override or reverse moderation actions if they are found to violate platform policies.
9. Content Access Model — Free & Paid
Community Connect operates a creator-driven content model similar to platforms like Patreon. As a creator, you have full control over whether your content, community posts, livestreams, and digital assets are made available for free or behind a paid subscription or one-time purchase.
- Free content: You may publish content that is freely accessible to any member or visitor of your community.
- Paid content: You may gate specific content behind a subscription plan or one-time payment.
- Subscription tiers: You may create multiple subscription tiers at different price points. It is your responsibility to clearly describe what each tier includes at the time of purchase.
- Mixed model: Content access levels must be clearly communicated to members before they subscribe or purchase.
- Changing access levels: Content already accessible to paying members must remain accessible for the duration of their active subscription period.
Creator Responsibility: You are solely responsible for deciding what content is free vs. paid and for communicating that clearly to your audience.
10. Asset License Grant
You retain full ownership of all original content, media, and digital assets you create and upload to Community Connect. By uploading assets to the platform you grant Community Connect a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- Upload & store: Host, store, and back up your assets on Community Connect's infrastructure and third-party cloud services.
- Process & transcode: Compress, resize, reformat, or transcode your assets for delivery across different devices and platform surfaces.
- Display & distribute: Deliver your content to authorized users within the platform.
- Promote: Use your content for platform promotional purposes unless you opt out in your creator settings.
Community Connect will not sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit your content independent of the platform.
11. Suspension & Termination
Creator privileges may be suspended or permanently revoked for violations of these Terms, our general Terms of Service, or other platform policies. Grounds for action include but are not limited to:
- Repeated failure to honor refund requests or event commitments.
- Publishing misleading, fraudulent, or prohibited content.
- Violations of the Livestream Safety Policy.
- Abuse of members or misuse of admin tools.
- Chargebacks or payment disputes indicating fraudulent activity.
- Any conduct that brings Community Connect into disrepute.
Upon termination, any pending payouts may be withheld pending resolution of outstanding disputes or refund obligations.
12. Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Community Connect and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, licensors, and successors from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:
