1. Overview
Community Connect respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA") and other applicable copyright laws, we respond promptly to valid notices of alleged copyright infringement. This policy describes how to submit a DMCA takedown notice, how to file a counter-notice, and how we handle repeat infringers.
2. Reporting Copyright Infringement
If you believe that content on Community Connect infringes your copyright, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice to our designated copyright agent. To be valid under the DMCA, your notice must include all of the following:
- Identification of the copyrighted work: A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed, or if multiple works are covered by a single notice, a representative list of such works.
- Identification of the infringing material: A description of the material you claim is infringing and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate it on the platform (e.g., the URL of the specific page or post).
- Your contact information: Your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- Good faith statement: A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- Accuracy statement: A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
- Signature: A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
Incomplete notices may not be processed. Submitting a false or misleading DMCA notice may expose you to liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
3. Where to Send a DMCA Notice
Send your DMCA takedown notice to our designated copyright agent:
Community Connect — Copyright Agent
Email: cto@cconnect.vip (Subject line: "DMCA Takedown Notice")
We recommend sending notices by email for fastest processing. We will acknowledge receipt of valid notices and act expeditiously to remove or disable access to the reported material.
4. Our Response to Valid Notices
Upon receipt of a complete and valid DMCA notice, Community Connect will:
- Promptly remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content.
- Notify the user who posted the content that it has been removed due to a copyright claim.
- Provide the user with a copy of the takedown notice (with your personal contact information redacted where possible).
- Inform the user of their right to file a counter-notice.
5. Filing a Counter-Notice
If you believe your content was removed as a result of a mistake or misidentification, you may file a counter-notice. To be valid, your counter-notice must include:
- Identification of the removed material: A description of the content that was removed and the URL where it appeared before removal.
- Your contact information: Your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- Good faith statement: A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Consent to jurisdiction: A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court in your judicial district (or, if outside the U.S., any judicial district in which Community Connect may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original takedown notice.
- Signature: Your physical or electronic signature.
Send your counter-notice to the same email address listed in Section 3 with the subject line "DMCA Counter-Notice." If we receive a valid counter-notice, we will forward it to the original complainant and may restore the content within 10–14 business days unless the complainant files a court action.
6. Repeat Infringer Policy
In accordance with the DMCA and our commitment to protecting intellectual property, Community Connect maintains a policy of terminating the accounts of users who are found to be repeat infringers. A user may be considered a repeat infringer if they receive multiple valid DMCA takedown notices or repeatedly post content that infringes third-party copyrights.
Creator accounts subject to repeat infringement findings may have their monetization privileges suspended or permanently revoked in addition to account termination.
7. Copyright Best Practices for Users
To avoid copyright issues on Community Connect, we recommend the following:
- Only post, stream, or share content you own or have explicit permission to use.
- When using music in livestreams or event videos, ensure you have the appropriate license. Services like Epidemic Sound, Artlist, or Soundstripe offer royalty-free music suitable for streaming.
- Do not reproduce substantial portions of third-party articles, books, or other written works without permission.
- Use images and graphics you own, have licensed, or sourced from a platform with an appropriate license (e.g., Unsplash, Pexels for free-to-use photos).
- Fair use may apply in limited circumstances (commentary, criticism, education), but fair use is a legal defense determined on a case-by-case basis. Community Connect cannot determine whether your specific use qualifies as fair use.
8. Limitations
Community Connect is not in a position to adjudicate copyright disputes between users and third parties. The DMCA process described in this policy is a legal mechanism for rights holders to request removal of allegedly infringing content. It does not constitute a finding of infringement. If you believe your rights have been violated beyond what this process addresses, you should consult a qualified attorney.
9. Policy Changes
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in law or platform practice. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the platform.
